Privacy Policy

The Simple Version

We cannot access your data because we never collect it.

CHKD is built on a simple principle: your habits are yours, and they should stay on your device. We don't collect, transmit, store, or analyze any of your personal information. Period.

What Data We Don't Collect

We don't collect, track, or have access to:

• Your habit tasks or their names
• Your completion history or streak data
• Your custom day boundary settings
• Your reminder preferences or notification times
• Your device information or usage analytics
• Your name, email, or any account information
• Your location
• Your contacts
• Absolutely anything else about you or how you use the app

Where Your Data Lives

All of your habit data is stored locally on your device only. This includes:

• Task definitions (names, icons, colors, schedules)
• Completion records and streak history
• App settings and preferences
• Reminder configurations

Your data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to enable iCloud sync (see below).

Optional iCloud Sync

If you choose to enable iCloud sync on your device:

• Your habit data is synchronized between your own Apple devices using your personal iCloud account
• This sync happens directly between your devices and Apple's iCloud servers
• We (the app developers) have zero access to your iCloud data
• Apple's iCloud Privacy Policy applies to data stored in your iCloud account
• You can disable iCloud sync at any time in iOS Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → CHKD

Important: Even with iCloud enabled, your data only syncs to devices signed into your iCloud account. We never see or access it.

No Analytics or Tracking

We don't use any analytics services, tracking SDKs, or crash reporting tools. We have no idea:

• How often you use the app
• Which features you use
• Whether the app crashes
• How you interact with the interface

While this makes it harder for us to improve the app based on usage patterns, we believe your privacy is more important.

No Third-Party Services

CHKD doesn't integrate with any third-party services, SDKs, or frameworks that could access your data. The app uses only:

• Apple's native SwiftUI and SwiftData frameworks (which keep all data local)
• Apple's native notification framework (notifications are scheduled locally on your device)
• Apple's optional iCloud sync (controlled entirely by you)

No advertising networks, no analytics platforms, no crash reporters, no social media integrations. Nothing.

No Accounts Required

You don't need to create an account, provide an email address, or sign in to use CHKD. The app works completely standalone on your device.

Permissions We Request

CHKD may request the following iOS permissions:

• Notifications: To remind you to complete your habits. These reminders are scheduled and delivered locally on your device—we never send push notifications from a server because we don't have one.
• iCloud (optional): If you enable iCloud sync, iOS will request permission to sync data to your iCloud account.

That's it. We don't request access to your camera, photos, contacts, location, microphone, or anything else.

Data Backup and Export

Since all data is stored locally:

• Your habit data is included in your regular iPhone backups (iTunes or iCloud Backup)
• If you restore your iPhone from a backup, your habit data will be restored
• We recommend enabling iCloud Backup or regular iTunes backups to prevent data loss if you lose or replace your device

Future versions may include manual data export options (CSV or JSON) that allow you to save a copy of your data outside the app.

Children's Privacy

We don't knowingly collect data from anyone—including children—because we don't collect data at all. The app is safe for users of all ages.

Changes to This Policy

If we ever change this privacy policy (for example, if we add optional cloud features in the future), we will:

• Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
• Notify you within the app before implementing any changes that would affect your data
• Always give you the choice to opt out of any new data collection

We will never retroactively change how we handle your existing data without your explicit consent.

Your Privacy Rights

Since we don't collect your data, there's nothing for you to request access to, delete, or export from our servers—because we don't have servers that store your data.

Your data is entirely under your control:

• Access: You can view all your data within the app at any time
• Delete: You can delete individual habits or all your data by deleting the app
• Export: Currently managed through device backups; manual export may be added in future updates
• Portability: Your data stays on your device and in your iCloud account (if enabled)

Our Promise

Privacy isn't just a legal requirement for us—it's a core feature. We built CHKD this way intentionally:

• No ads to target = no tracking needed
• No freemium model = no pressure to extract data for monetization
• One-time purchase = aligned incentives (we want you to love the app, not exploit your data)
• Local-first architecture = your data stays yours

We believe habit tracking is deeply personal. Your routines, your struggles, your successes—these shouldn't be harvested for analytics or sold to advertisers. CHKD exists to help you build better habits, nothing more.
